How to recognize a Blue Flag beach (and why choose it for the holidays)
When choosing a destination for summer holidays, the quality of the beaches plays a fundamental role. But what really distinguishes a Blue Flag beach from the others? Here are some things to help you recognize it — and understand why it's an excellent choice for your beach stay.
1. Transparent and monitored waters
The Blue Flag beaches are selected on the basis of scientific analysis conducted regularly by public bodies. This means that the waters have been classified as "excellent" for at least four consecutive years, according to European quality parameters.
2. Clean and well-managed beaches
No waste, cured sand, containers for separate collection, and bathing facilities in order: the attention to the environment is tangible. The presence of waste management plans, clean public toilets and services for everyone is another guarantee.
3. Security services
All Blue Flag beaches must be equipped with rescue facilities, easy access for people with disabilities, and informative signage. In addition, there is no shortage of points for first aid, clear rules for bathing and constant attention to the comfort of bathers.
4. Environmental education
Another fundamental requirement is the promotion of environmental culture. This means that during the summer season they are organized:
Information events on respect for the marine environment
Activities for children and families
Educational workshops and ecological days
5. A positive impact on the entire territory
Choosing a Blue Flag location means rewarding the collective commitment of administrations, tour operators and citizens. It is a virtuous circle in which tourism becomes an ally of environmental protection, improving the quality of life of residents and visitors.

The Blue Flag 2025 certifies the excellence of our coasts, but each Pulsano beach has a different personality, capable of meeting different tastes and desires. Here is a little guide to help you choose the perfect beach for you:
1. Lido Silvana - For those looking for space, relaxation and history
Perfect for a small family, Lido Silvana is a long, sandy and well-kept beach. It is ideal for those who want tranquility and freedom of movement. After withstanding two fires (2001 and 2024), the beach has returned to its original splendor. In addition to the small bar for a refreshing break, there is also an archaeological site of great value, immersed in a crystal clear marine landscape.
2. Montedarena – Fun and sociality
If you are a group of friends, Montedarena is the perfect destination. Here you can breathe a lively atmosphere: kids playing in the water, DJ sets, music and many places to take a break. The beach is large, well-kept and extends into an area called "La Conca", particularly appreciated for its natural and welcoming form.
3. Saturated - Silence and contemplation
For those who love solitude or intimate contact with nature, Saturo is the ideal choice. Its quiet cliffs offer a perfect setting to listen only to the waves and the wind. It's the perfect place to relax in total peace, away from the crowds.
4. La Fontana / Il Gabbiano - Clear water and beach life
This is a dynamic beach, frequented by groups of friends and families. Not very spacious nor particularly quiet, but it is the ideal destination for those who spend most of their time in the water. The water here is among the cleanest in the whole territory.
5. Torre Sgarrata (Torre Zozzoli) - Nature, history and adventure
Moving to the Monacizzo area, a few kilometers from Marina di Pulsano, we find what many consider the most spectacular beach in the area. Wide, long and wild, it offers a breathtaking view of the open sea. Dominated by the historic anti-Saracen watchtower of the 16th century - Torre Zozzoli, also called Torre Sgarrata - this beach is perfect for those who love to explore and discover the territory.
